Travel concession

Responsibility for concessionary travel has transferred from the Borough Council to the County Council from 1st April 2011 as a result of Government legislation, and the funding for the service will also be transferred. This means that there will be changes in the way the system operates.

People of pensionable age and disabled people can apply for a NoWcard bus pass that gives them free travel on off-peak buses all over England, but Lancashire County Council has taken over all administration of the scheme.

Due to the money the Council previously spent being removed from its budget, from April 2011, West Lancs Borough Council is no longer able to provide the extra discretionary travel concessions for elderly and disabled people that it previously offered over and above the NoWcard.

It must be stressed that elderly and disabled people will continue to be able to apply for a NoWcard that gives free travel on off-peak buses all over England.

Please find below the NoWcard contact details and external link if you require further information or details of how to apply.

Travel Tokens

Any customer who still holds unused Travel Tokens can continue to use them but are advised to use them as soon as possible as the operators will eventually cease to accept them. However, this decision will be subject to the individual transport operators involved and each operator will impose its own cut off date.

Please note: We will be unable to reimburse customers for any unused Travel Tokens.
