Several projects are underway to improve the District.
Including:
Employment area improvements
The District Council are making improvements to the area's existing
industrial estates. This is aimed at improving the image of the
area and thereby attracting further investment to the District.
Schemes currently being undertaken are:
· Improvements to the entrance to the Whitemoss Business
Park
· Signage and landscaping at the Pippin Street entrance to the
Burscough Industrial Estate.
· Additional schemes will be implemented later this year.
Town centre enhancements
Town centres are the life and soul of the local community and the
Council is keen to ensure that the town centres are attractive
areas to visit and to work.
Much work has already been carried out in Ormskirk and there are
currently great plans for Burscough and Skelmersdale. It is
essential that such work is continued and the momentum is carried
forward to ensure the long term survival of our centres. The
Council will therefore be carrying out works to improve our centres
such as the recently started work on Aughton Street in
Ormskirk.
Village improvements
This scheme proposes to make physical improvements to the public
areas of village shopping areas, to include:
· Banks shopping area
· Hesketh Bank village centre
· Moss Delph Lane, Aughton
· Shops at The Common, Parbold
Gateway and transport corridor
improvements
Whilst also improving our town centres and industrial estates, it
is essential that we do not neglect other areas of the District.
The Council has made improvement works
at the gateways into the District. This work will build
on the success of the Elements project in Skelmersdale and will
include public art work and landscaping. Environmental improvements
are also proposed on important Transport Corridors in the
District.
