Health and safety inspections, advice and
education
The Commercial Safety Team inspects workplaces on a programmed
basis and, as well as taking enforcement action where
appropriate, provides advice and education to
businesses.
Many accidents which occur in the workplace have to be reported to
the council by law and we investigate these to determine the cause
and to prevent them happening again in the future.
Health and safety training is offered to people in the West
Lancashire area to help them meet health and safety training
requirements.
In addition, we inspect premises that require special licenses such
as acupuncturists, tattooists and other skin piercers. We also
enforce Sunday trading legislation.
