Is this charity genuine?

The promoters of all charitable collections both 'Street' and 'House to House' are required to obtain permission before carrying out any collection.

Permits are issued to promoters who have applied and have been approved, however, some collections still take place without approval, this would mean that they have not been checked and the proceeds may not be for a charitable purpose.

If you are unsure if a collection is genuine you can check if they have been approved by the Council by contacting the Licensing Service on 01695 577177 or by email on licensing.enquiries@westlancs.gov.uk.

All House to House Collections taking place in your area can be seen on the Public Registers section under House to House Collections.

The Council's Licensing Officers investigate incidents relating to unauthorised collections and legal proceedings can be taken against the responsible people in appropriate cases.
