Licensing Act 2003

The Licensing Act 2003 came into force on 24 November 2005. All premises affected by the Act are required to hold a current premises licence or club premises certificate.

Under the Licensing Act 2003 the Council, acting as the Licensing Authority, is responsible for the licensing of the sale or supply or alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night refreshment. The Council is also responsible for the administration and issue of permits for Gaming Machines and Prize Gaming in licensed premises.
