Quotations and tenders process

The Council has procedures in place that requires it to invite quotations and tenders. Potential suppliers are either invited as a result of short-listing procedures or may be invited under open arrangements. Offers are assessed using tender assessment criteria.

Contracts that have a value of over £50,000 have to go through the Council's formal tendering process, which involves tenders being returned in specific envelopes, which are then opened formally by Council members.

A more informal quotation system applies to contracts under the value of £50,000.

Furthermore, tenders for goods and services above an estimated value of £156,442 and for works above an estimated value of £3,927,260 will be advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union. See the How to find out about tenders page for more information.
