Last chance to give your views on
multi-million pound plans
Don't miss the chance to give your views on
multi-million pound plans to bring a new heart to Skelmersdale town centre.
Skelmersdale
residents are reminded that time is running out if they wish to
give comments before the consultation period ends on Thursday 24
April.
As part of the six week statutory public
consultation period that began on 13 March, West Lancs District
Council delivered a special newsletter and questionnaire to every
home in the town, summarising the key aspects of the masterplan to revamp the town centre and asking for
people's opinions.
Already, more than 1,600 people have responded
to West Lancs District Council's invitation to give their
views. In addition, over 600 visited the special exhibition
held in the Concourse from 27 March to 4 April.
The masterplan
includes the features that local people have said they want in the town centre including a new
high street, more shops, another supermarket, a new leisure centre,
community facilities, improvements to the Tawd Valley, and housing. It also demonstrates
how these key features will fit together to create the integrated,
functional and vibrant town centre that Skelmersdale deserves.
Les Abernethy, Deputy Chief Executive of West
Lancs District Council, said: "It's
fantastic that so many people have already completed the
questionnaire to give their views and I hope many more will do so
before the consultation period ends on 24 April. This is
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make
a real difference to the town and I encourage people to tell us
what they think. The masterplan
outlines exciting plans to bring
massive investment into Skelmersdale
and new facilities that will benefit everyone. "
The Council will take everyone's views into
account before it finalises the masterplan later this summer.
