Be 'inspired' by Council's brand new website
West Lancashire District Council has launched
a brand new website to ensure customers get a first class service
when they 'click' to contact the Council.
The website keeps the same address www.westlancsdc.gov.uk but has
a fresh look and a range of new features so customers can get a
wide range of council services online.
With a "we want to ... help, listen, inspire"
theme, the website makes it easy for people to, request services,
make payments, give their views and find information about a whole
range of services provided by the Council and other
organisations.
Councillor Adrian Owens, Portfolio Holder for
IT, said: "Last year, the West Lancs website was rated the best
district council website in the country in a prestigious
national survey. Since then, we have been developing a new website
that will be even better.
"We know that more and more customers want to
go online to contact the Council - whether they want to pay a bill,
arrange for a replacement wheelie bin, make a planning application
or tell us what they think - and we want to make it easy for them
to do so. Our new website has a huge range of online services
as well as more than 2,000 pages of information and it is available
24 hours a day, every day of the year. We want to make sure our
website is the first choice for customers when they want to contact
the Council. Please visit westlancsdc.gov.uk and see how easy it
is."
Some of the features on the new website
include:
· A prize draw for using online
forms and payments, with the chance to win £100 of shopping
vouchers
· Quick links to more than 140
online services
· "Find your collection day"
calendar so people can go online to check what day they should put
out their recycling materials and household waste
· A weekly videoblog from Bill
Taylor, the Chief Executive
· The latest news about Council
activities and events
Further developments are planned for the
website including the opportunity to sign up for e-newsletters and
specialist online forums; new areas for the local strategic
partnership and for information about councillors; and even more
online services.
