Double celebrations all round
It’s a double celebration for staff who have either clocked up
25 years in local Government or who are top of the class.
A number of West Lancashire District Council employees are to be
commended at a special awards ceremony today (Tuesday 13th May) for
their services.
A total of 22 staff have, between them all, managed to serve
more than 550 years at local government service. They will be
thanked for their dedication and commitment during the long service
presentation.
They will join 13 employees who
have completed a Management Development Programme called the West
Lancashire Management Programme including the Institute of
Leadership of Management Qualification at Level 3. This course was
so successful that the Council is now looking at continuing the
programme and also extending it to Level 5.
A further 13 staff will also pick up their certificates for
achieving qualifications in a variety of subjects including civic
design, auditing, housing studies, environmental health and small
firms enterprise development.
Councillor Iain Ashcroft, Portfolio Holder for Human Resources,
said: "We are very proud to have such a dedicated, loyal,
hardworking team of staff, who are also willing to further their
education. Employees who have achieved further qualifications
should be commended for being able to enhance their skills within
their chosen career paths and to be able to effectively juggle work
and studies. Also, in today’s extremely difficult climate regarding
recruitment and retention, it is a pleasure to be able to award 22
people with long service awards, which reflects their extreme
loyalty towards the Council."
