Soaring for success is this year’s Kite
Festival
Go fly a kite at the flagship Beacon Country Park in Up Holland
for one of the biggest outdoor festivals of the year.
The popular two-day Kite and Outdoor Sports Festival is back
again for 2008 on 7 and 8 June, from 11am to 5pm - and promises to
be a soaring success.
Now in its sixth year, the firmly established countryside event
offers a jam-packed programme of activities to enthral both young
and old alike.
Spectators will be able to enjoy lots of sky-sweeping displays
of unique and unusual kites as they reach for the skies. There will
be bird and animal kites, oriental kites and even stunt kites.
Professional organisation the Northern Kite Group, who have
organised the whole kite flying side of the festival, will be
displaying their kite flying skills and will be giving the
opportunity for amateurs and professionals to fly their own kites
too.
Team Extreme will also be bringing their mini ramp where they
will perform amazing BMX, skateboard and inline skate stunts.
Visitors can even have a go themselves - if they dare!
Displays, demonstrations and traders from other outdoor pursuits
will also be there. And don’t forget to bring you teddy with you
for the teddy bear parachute drop.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "Last
year’s event attracted record crowds and we hope to build on this
success again by offering an exciting programme for all. There
really is something for everyone, from flying your own kite to
watching some of the heart-stopping displays. Or you can simply
take time out by browsing through the trade stalls. So make sure
you don’t miss this show stopping event."
