Help us get the full measure

The District Council is urging residents to send in their views
on Licensing Act 2003.
We want as many people as possible to take part in the public
consultation to ensure that our policy for licensing the sale of
alcohol, provision of public entertainment and late night
refreshment, fully reflects the needs of everyone in the
district.
Helping to gather feedback from a broad spectrum of the community,
representatives of the licensed trade, other local businesses, the
police and fire services, members of the Council's Crime Reduction
Partnership, legal specialists, residents' groups and cultural
organisations, have already been contacted - but we particularly
want to hear what local residents think too.
The policy is updated every three years and the suggested changes
to the document can be viewed in the Your Views section. Here you will also find an
online comments form where you can log your opinions and
ideas.
Cllr John Baldock, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Health,
said: "It is essential that as many residents as possible take part
in this consultation to help us gain a balanced view and compile a
policy that fully reflects the needs of local people and
businesses.
"Comments on the proposed changes to the policy can be made until
the 31 October 2007, and I really hope residents will take the time
to let us know their thoughts and opinions on the matter."
Hard copies of the document are available by calling our Licensing
Team on 01695 585015. You can also contact Licensing or send
