On a scale of one to ten for leisure
experience
For weighing up the pros and cons of using his local leisure
centre in a customer survey, a lucky gym-goer has won himself a set
of scales.
West Lancashire Community Leisure Trust recently asked its
customers to fill in a leisure centre user questionnaire in order
to gather views and to help them improve the services they
offer.
To thank them for their valuable feedback, customers who completed
the surveys were entered into a prize draw.
But it was 67-year-old Tony Taylor, a member of Banks Leisure
Centre, who tipped the scales for his win.
He said: "I've been a member of the centre for over 12 months and
it's a good facility so I was happy to give my views. It was great
when I found out I'd won the scales as they'll go nicely with my
new bathroom!"
It's the first time the Trust has launched this type of
questionnaire to gather views from its customers in order to
improve their experiences of using the centres. It complements the
existing regular customer forums where users are able to give
feedback to managers at informal meetings.
Bill Lloyd, Chairman of the Leisure Trust, said: "We are constantly
looking at ways to improve the services we offer our customers at
the centres and are always happy to listen to any feedback we
receive in order to enhance their visitor experience. This is why
we decided to try using the surveys to gather their views. The
comments we received were very encouraging and we hope to implement
some of their ideas in the near future."
This first survey was particularly focused on the music currently
played in the gyms and as a result they will be reprogramming some
of the music at Nye Bevan in order to please users.
Other comments on the forms are currently being analysed and will
be used to further improve services at the leisure centres.
The Trust intends to send out surveys every six months in order to
monitor views and will focus on lots of different themes for each
one.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "I applaud the
Trust for this latest initiative for gathering the views of
customers. They continually show that they do actually listen and
take on board any feedback and will always make changes to suit the
needs of the members. I'm confident that customers will use future
surveys to ensure they get the best deal from using the
centres."

The Trust has responsibility for the five leisure centres across
