Carols in the park
Get into the Christmas spirit of things and join a special carol
concert in Ormskirk's Coronation Park for charity.
On Monday 10th December, Ormskirk District Scouts will be hosting a
Christmas Carol Concert at the town centre park in aid of the
Salvation Army and West Lancashire District Councils Chairman's
Charity.
They will be accompanied by the Salvation Army's brass band and
members of local scout groups will be singing a variety of
traditional songs.
The scouts are hoping that they won't be rejoicing alone and that
members of the public will join them in the celebrations and sing
for charity.
The concert will take place in the park's bandstand from 6.30pm
until 7.30pm and it is open to all.
Collection buckets will be in place around the bandstand with all
donations going towards the two charities.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "This is a
great event for members of the communities surrounding the park and
an excellent opportunity to get together and celebrate the festive
season. It is fantastic to see the bandstand being used to promote
and raise money for organisations such as the scouts and the
Salvation Army."
District Commissioner for Ormskirk District Scouts, Sue Goldstraw,
added: "It is important that we observe the traditions of the
festive season and bring the community together in celebrations
such as these. Charities such as the Salvation Army work hard to
make the festive period more enjoyable for the homeless and less
advantaged people all over the country. Events like these are fun
ways to show our support for these charities and all the hard work
they carry out."
