Enterprising workshops to kick-start your
business

If you are thinking of setting up a business or already run a
venture and would like support, why not attend one of the exciting
workshops on offer.
As part of the recently launched Enterprising West Lancashire
project, which offers free business support across Skelmersdale, a
number of events have been organised throughout February and March
to give entrepreneurs advice and help.
The range of free workshops including business planning,
bookkeeping and setting up a website. They also cover the basics on
essential topics such as 'VAT' and Inland Revenue information, as
well as how to attract, select and retain the best staff.
It's also a great opportunity to network and find out details about
how the District Council can help you to flourish.
The overall aim of the project is to provide advice and support to
local businesses or anyone thinking about starting a new venture by
offering one-to-one support, networking events and access to
specialist support. Its overall aim is to encourage greater
productivity, create additional jobs and boost the local
economy.
Cllr Ian Grant, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, said: "It can be
a daunting task setting up your own business or trying to make it
work, which is why we have put together a number of workshops that
will give people a head start in business and hopefully put some of
their fears to rest.
So whether you need support in areas like getting it right on the
legal side or want to know more about cost effective marketing,
then we offer both one to one and group sessions to give you advice
and information."
Places are limited on the workshops, which all take place at the
Investment Centre, Whitemoss, Skelmersdale, and must be booked in
advance. To book, contact 01695 577177 or email info.edu@westlancsdc.gov.uk.

The project is all thanks to the District Council securing funding
of £250,000 through the European Regional Development Fund and
Business Incubation Fund. At the moment the project is targeting
Skelmersdale but hopes to expand to other areas across the District
in the future.
