It's playtime at Coronation Park
Children's playtime is about to get even better at Ormskirk's
Coronation Park with the official unveiling of a brand new
playground.
On Thursday 22nd February at 1pm the District Council will
celebrate the welcome additions to the park with youngsters from
West End Primary School as they declare the new facilities
open.
Work started in mid January to build the children's play area at
the popular park and the project has just been completed.
The site now boasts an exciting play area for 8 to 13 year olds
with an aeroskate, multi-play unit, cyro spiral and other more
traditional equipment but with a modern twist.
It comes just in time for the start of the spring so that young
people can start to enjoy the equipment as the lighter warmer days
come in.
Cllr David Westley, Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said:
"We promised that we would finish work as quickly as possible so
that our youngsters would have brand new play facilities in time
for spring. The playground looks fantastic and I'm sure it will be
extremely popular with the youngsters because they are the people
who chose the design."
"This latest completed project is just one of many attractive new
features that will adorn the park and we've lots more plans to
enhance it even further for both young and old alike to
enjoy."
Youngsters were given the opportunity to vote for the design they
liked best earlier this year from seven hopefuls to ensure they got
facilities that most suited their need. The winner was Proludic Ltd
with 44% of the vote and their chosen design can now be seen in the
park.
Other improvement works taking place at Coronation Park include
replacement and additional seating and litterbins, a new cycleway,
lighting, enhanced bridges across the stream and the new woodlands
will be finished.
Further works planned include focal entrance features and avenues
leading into the park, resurfacing works and improvements to the
surroundings of the site.
