Tour is 'Spot On' for West Lancashire's rural
villages
Rural communities in West Lancashire can enjoy professional arts on
their doorsteps, thanks to a special tour coming to the
District.
'Spot On' will be appearing at out-of-town venues in the area with
a variety of entertaining performances to suit all tastes.
Cllr David Westley, Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said:
"Spot On is a great way of giving people who live in rural areas
the chance to access the arts on their own doorstep. Usually, a lot
of arts events tend to be centred around the town centres so this
is a perfect opportunity for them to enjoy something without having
to travel too far!"
Don't miss the following performances:
· On Friday 23rd February at 6pm the Rhubarb Theatre will be
performing 'Shh' at Aughton Village Hall, which follows librarian
Lil and is a show full of humour, visual inventiveness, puppetry,
mask, dance and physical theatre. For tickets, please contact 01695
422423.
· Howard Haigh will bring Latino, guitar, blues and music from
around the world mixed with dazzling originals to Parbold Village
Hall on Friday 13th April, starting 7.30pm. For tickets, please
contact 01257 462176.
· On Friday 20th April Bob Hall and Hilary Blythe will present
'Good 'Liquor! Hard Times' at Aughton Village Hall, starting
7.30pm. Spectators can join in with a hand-clapping, foot tapping
blues and boogie-woogie party. For tickets, please contact 01695
422423.
The planned events form part of Lancashire's Rural Touring Network,
which enables residents who live in rural areas to see live
productions without having to travel too far. It is supported by
West Lancashire District Council and has a membership of four
community venues, mostly village halls, who collectively promote a
lively and diverse programme of events each year.
