Give us your views on affordable housing
Have rising house prices caused problems for you? Are you having
difficulties finding a home that you can afford to live in?
West Lancashire District Council is investigating the difficulties
faced by local people and is inviting residents to come along to a
workshop about affordable housing.
Cllr David Westley, portfolio holder for housing, said: "We are
aware that some people do have difficulty in finding homes in West
Lancs. This may be because house prices are too high for them, or
because there aren't any homes available for rent in the area they
wish to live."
"The Council is keen to find out more about the problems local
people face and how we can help. I hope people will take the
opportunity to come along to the workshop to help us assess the
type of difficulties people face, and the scale of the
problem."
Places on the workshop will be limited and formal invites will be
issued. Anyone interested in attending the event, which will be
held during the evening at the Council Offices in the District,
should contact: Jill Jones, West Lancs District Council, 52 Derby
Street, Ormskirk L39 2DF. Tel: 01695 585017 or email jill.jones@westlancsdc.gov.uk
before 19 January 2007.
Please note that the workshop will be an opportunity to share
views, experiences and concerns. We will not be able to give
personal advice about individual housing difficulties, though if
anyone does have specific housing problems we may be able to direct
them to appropriate sources of advice and help.
Alternatively, you can write or email the Council (see addresses
above) to give your views. For example, do you think house prices
in the District are making it harder for people to find homes to
buy or rent? If so, what should the Council do to help? Do we need
more affordable housing in the rural areas, or in the towns?
Whatever your experiences, view, concern or idea, we would like to
hear about it. Please send in your comments by 19 January 2007.
