Skelmersdale entrepreneurs urged to sign up for special
event
Sign up now for Enterprising West Lancashire's launch event - an
exciting new project offering free business support across
Skelmersdale.
Last year, West Lancashire District Council secured just under
£250,000 through the European Regional Development Fund and
Business Incubation Fund for this brand new initiative to help
entrepreneurs grow and develop.
The aim of the project is to provide advice and support to local
businesses. It offers support to anyone thinking about starting a
new venture by offering a range of free workshops including
business planning, book keeping and setting up a website. For
established businesses the project provides one-to-one support,
networking events and access to specialist support.
To celebrate, a special launch event has been organised at West
Lancashire's flagship Investment Centre, Whitemoss, on 7th
February, 5pm to 7pm, including a light buffet and
refreshments.
During the event, it is a chance for like-minded people to network,
meet other business support organisations and find out details
about how the District Council can help you to flourish.
Invitations for the event have already gone out to more than 400
businesses but anyone who wants to attend has to register their
interest first by ringing 01695 577177 or emailing info.edu@westlancsdc.gov.uk.
Cllr Ian Grant, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Planning,
said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone in the
Skelmersdale area who is either thinking of starting up their own
business or already has their own enterprise but would like free
tailored support to find out how we can help them succeed in
today's competitive market. I expect interest to be extremely high
and spaces are limited so make sure you register your interest to
attend today to guarantee a place!"
On the night there will also be inspirational entrepreneurs giving
talks, lots of stalls with representatives on hand to give advice
about funding, legal issues, environmental support, educational,
creative industries and other important subjects.
At the moment the project is targeting Skelmersdale but hopes to
expand to other areas across the District in the future.
In the long run, the initiative is expected to also encourage
greater productivity, create additional jobs and boost the local
economy.
