Summer boredom banished at the touch of a
button
With the summer holidays fast approaching, don't waste time
pondering about what to do, just visit the Events section for some super ideas!
At the touch of a button, West Lancashire District Council's
website has the answer to all your problems to ensure that you make
the most of the break from school or work.
If you're looking to keep the children entertained, you can find
out about all the summer activities and workshops that are on at
Chapel Gallery, the Junior Ranger Club, outdoor sports organised by
the sports development team, what's happening at the leisure
centres and other attractions across the district.
For the adults, why not check out the listings for the latest art
exhibitions or perhaps one of the featured events in the
countryside calendar, such as the Walking Festival in August.
Or if you want to enjoy the summer at one of our parks or
playgrounds and perhaps enjoy a picnic with the family, check out
which site to visit check out the Parks and Playgrounds. The parks have a
variety of facilities including traditional equipment and some have
skateboarding and multi use games areas.
The Visitor Guide is also online via the Tourism and Events
section, and is a great way to find out what's on offer around the
district. Popular attractions featured in the brochure include
Wildlife Trust's Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve, Wildfowl and
Wetlands Trust Martin Mere, Farmer Ted's Farm Park, the Windmill
Animal Farm, the West Lancashire Light Railway, Scarisbrick Hall,
National Trust's Rufford Old Hall, Beacon Country Park and much
more.
So finding out about places to visit, where to stay, dining out,
shopping, markets and about various events couldn't be easier
because it's all listed.
If looking after the children is a problem when school finishes for
the summer, our Education section has lists of registered play
groups, nurseries and childminders.
