Youngsters have opportunity to exhibit their
artwork!
Creative youngsters have a brilliant opportunity to submit a piece
of artwork by entering this year's Youth Open Exhibition at Chapel
Gallery.
For the second year running the Gallery is inviting young artists
of all abilities and talents to submit their work for selection
towards a final exhibition.
Modelled on the Gallery's popular summer West Lancashire Open
Exhibition for adults, it gives young people a unique chance to
showcase their talents.
Telling Tales is the theme for this year's Youth Open. Young people
aged between 8 to 18 years old are being encouraged to submit a
piece of work inspired by the use of narrative and storytelling in
art.
Artistic young people can enter their pieces ranging from
paintings, drawings, 3D, collage, photography and textiles.
The deadline for entries is Saturday 1st September and judges will
then select the best pieces. The artworks chosen will then form an
exhibition in the Gallery, which will run from 6th October to 17th
November.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "Last year for
the first time we organised the Youth Open and it was so successful
that we wanted to do it again because it gives young people a
fantastic opportunity to exhibit their works in a professional
environment. This is a great chance for any young people looking to
develop their creativity so I'd encourage them to pick up an
application form and submit their work."
Anyone who would like to enter should contact Chapel Gallery on
01695 571328, email chapelgallery@westlancsdc.gov.uk
or pop into the Gallery, which is situated on St Helens Road,
Ormskirk. Application forms should include name, age, address,
contact details, email, and the type of media used.
