Football helps in crisis!
A fun 5-a-side football charity match is being hosted by West
Lancashire Community Leisure Trust to help raise funds for young
homeless people.
For the second year running, the Trust is supporting the 'Crisis
Centre Charity Cup Competition' on 18th June and will be letting
the teams thrash it out for the winning trophy at Skelmersdale
Sports Centre.
On the day the Trust will be entering a team to play, as well as
the District Council's Sports Development Team. They will have to
compete against other agencies including the Police as well as
local businesses for the title.
The idea behind the event is to raise money to support the West
Lancs Crisis Centre, which helps young people aged between 16 and
25 years old, who have had various problems in life. Some of them
come from broken homes, have suffered great tragedies, they've been
bullied or they just don't get on with their parents. The centre
offers them a home, help and support as well as teaching them basic
life skills including household chores, cooking or how to balance
their budget.
Bill Lloyd, Company Secretary of the Community Leisure Trust, said:
"We are always keen to work with communities, charities and other
worthwhile courses to support the work that they do. We recognise
that the Crisis Centre plays a significant role in supporting young
homeless people and we are delighted to be able to host this
event."
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, added: "Due to its
phenomenal success last year I'm sure this event will be even
bigger and better this year and will raise lots of money for a good
cause. We're pleased to be able to offer our support for what
promises to be a fun day."
