Make your mark on the school summer holidays
If you want to unleash your creative side this summer, make sure
you put your name down for the school workshops at Ormskirk Chapel
Gallery.
Young people aged between 8 and 13 years of age can learn brand new
skills by signing up for one of the fun classes during the summer
break.
Children who put their names down for the sessions will be working
with professional artists and can try everything from making
models, creating flamboyant headgear, producing micro nature
sculptures and painting.
Or they can let their imagination run wild by trying making a mega
book of monster poems, drawing 3D images, making animal heads, your
own mini world or try some Sci-Fi art.
The workshops start from 23rd July and run every Monday, Wednesday
and Friday until 31st August but places are snapped up quickly so
make sure to book!
Councillor Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "The
summer holidays is always an exciting prospect for youngsters but
they can quickly get bored if they've not much to do, which is why
we have once again put together an exciting summer programme. The
workshops are all fun, exciting and different and children can put
their names down for as many as they want. It's a great opportunity
to really let your creative talents shine through and meet
like-minded youngsters in a friendly environment too. But hurry as
places are snapped up quickly!"
All workshops run from 10am to 3.30pm with an hour for lunch
between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. Young people can either bring a packed
lunch or go home for dinner. The costs vary for each workshop
depending on the materials. Participants are also advised to wear
appropriate clothing in case there are any spills.
There's only limited places so book early to avoid disappointment
on 01695 571328. For information about other events across the
district visit the What's
On section.
