No butts - it's time to get ready!
With only days left until the new national smokefree law comes into
force, West Lancashire District Council is urging local businesses
and residents to make sure they are fully prepared.
From the 1st July 2007, national legislation will prohibit smoking
in any enclosed or partially enclosed public space.
If anyone has any last minute queries about the new laws they can
visit the - Smoke Free
section - where they will find a handy 'quick guide', along with
specially tailored advice for local businesses and members of the
public. There is also access to a wealth of information including
downloads of signs, guidance, booklets and posters.
Cllr John Baldock, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Health,
said: "The clock is ticking, so make sure that you are fully up to
speed with the requirements of the new smokefree law. It's vital
that everyone, especially businesses, really understand what the
new law means, how they will be affected and what they need to do
to ensure everything is in place ready for the 1 July."
"I would urge anyone who still has queries or uncertainties to
visit our website, where they will find a wealth of information at
their fingertips. Don't put it off - get ready to go smokefree
today."
