Still time to 'putt' name down for junior golf
open!
There's still time for young golfers to enter the first ever Junior
Open for West Lancashire
Entries have been flying in from enthusiastic youngsters for the
event at Beacon Golf Course, Up Holland, on Wednesday 25th July,
which is being run by DCT Leisure Ltd and supported by West
Lancashire District Council.
As the deadline looms closer for the challenge, organisers are
encouraging golfers to put their names down quickly to ensure a
place on the day.
Councillor Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "We've
had lots of interest from keen youngsters who would like to take
part in the event, especially as it's the first time we have held
this sort of competition for junior golfers. So make sure you don't
miss the chance to take part and get your application in to avoid
disappointment. The District Council has also funded lots of prizes
for the event so youngsters also have a chance to win some
surprises."
The club is taking entries from all certified handicaps. All
players between the ages of 10 and 18 are eligible to play who
belong to a golf club. The winners are in with a chance of some
fantastic prizes.
The Junior Open also coincides with the silver jubilee celebrations
at the golf course as it celebrates 25 years since it opened.
Mark Prosser of DCT, said: "Everyone is really excited about the
prospect of the inaugural Junior Open to celebrate our Silver
Jubilee, which is promising to be an exciting event. There's still
time to enter before the big day. Application forms can be
downloaded direct from our web site Beacon park Golf Club.
The 18-holf golf course, which was designed by Donald Steel who has
a great reputation within golf, is set within beautiful scenery and
is open from 8am to 4.30pm seven days a week. There's also a golf
shop, the Brasserie and Terrace Bar for meals and drinks, plus a
resident pro to offer tips on how to improve your game.
There are always various promotions on offer to ensure that golfing
is available for all. For more information or to enter the Junior
Open, please contact 01695 622700, or for the bar and restaurant
