Take the sting out of summer

Fed up of ants and wasps invading your summer? Well not any
more.
The District Council's Pest Control Service has a handy fact sheet
at the ready to help you banish these summer time pests.
There are 41 different species of ants found in the UK but it is
the garden or black ant that causes the biggest problem in our
homes. Travelling in large numbers they enter properties through
small gaps in doors and windows in search of sweet foods.
Although wasps are beneficial garden insects, they often become a
nuisance at the end of the summer, when the nesting season is over
and they are free to search for sweet food like cakes and sugary
drinks.
The free fact sheet is crammed full of useful advice on how to
prevent these creepy crawlies entering your home. However, if pests
still find a way in, then the Council's Pest Control Team can offer
quick, efficient and cost effective treatments to rid you of these
nuisances along with other public health pests such as rats, mice,
fleas and cockroaches.
So don't let your summer be taken over, visit the Pest Control section and
download a copy of the fact sheet today.
Cllr Baldock, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Health, said:
"An increased number of ants and wasps during the summer months is
a fact of life but that doesn't mean to say we have to put up with
them invading our home and garden."
"Simple steps such as not leaving out sweet and sugary food, making
sure that your property is in a good state of repair and that roof
spaces are secure - all help towards an insect free
environment."
Treating wasps' nests can be very dangerous and for this reason
professional treatment is always advised.
