Website clears air around new smoking
laws

Unsure about the new smoking laws? Want to know how you or your
business will be affected? Well visit the Smokefree section and everything will
become clear.
The new web pages explain what the Council is doing in preparation
for the new national smokefree law, which will come into force from
the 1 July 2007.
Visitors to the site will find a handy 'quick guide' to the new
laws, along with specially tailored advice for local businesses and
members of the public. There is also access to a wealth of
information including downloads of signs, guidance, booklets and
posters.
This information can be accessed 24-7, helping to make sure
everyone will be fully prepared in time for the start of the new
enforcement.
Cllr John Baldock, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Health,
said: "It is vital that business and individuals fully understand
the changes in the smoking laws, how they will be affected and what
they will need to do in preparation."
"Our website not only provides lots of information and advice but
it also links through to the national website http://www.smokefreeengland.co.uk,
to ensure that we are providing people with access to as much
guidance as possible."
Cllr Adrian Owens, Portfolio Holder for Finance, said: "I think it
is great that these new web pages have been set up by the Council.
Now people have all the information literally at their fingertips,
which can be accessed at their convenience 24-7."
