Help shape leisure services in West
Lancashire
Do you have a strong interest in sport and leisure and would like
to help shape the way services are provided? Then now is your big
chance!
West Lancashire Community Leisure Trust is looking for new members
to join the board of Trustees whose role is to ensure that the
leisure centres in the District meet the needs of local
communities.
The Trust has responsibility for the five leisure centres across
the District: Nye Bevan Pool, Park Pool, Skelmersdale Sports
Centre, Banks Leisure Centre and Burscough Fitness and Rackets
Leisure Centre.
Members on the board play an important role in developing how the
centres operate.
At present, the group currently has six representatives but is keen
to have new volunteers and is particularly hoping to attract
younger people, those from different cultures/backgrounds and
females.
By having a more diverse group, the idea is that an even wider
variety of views can be taken into account when helping to
influence key decisions in the leisure industry.
Bill Lloyd, Company Secretary of the Community Leisure Trust, said:
"The Trustees have a very influential role in developing and
improving the five leisure centres and will have a strong say on
how the centres are run to ensure that they meet the needs of the
customers. It's a great opportunity for anyone who has an interest
in sport and leisure and who has lots of ideas. So I'd encourage
people who think they are a match for the job to get in
touch."
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Cultural
Services, added: "People who have good independent judgement, the
ability to think creatively, are able to work as part of a team and
are able to motivate others are welcome to apply. An interest in
sport and leisure or a desire to see that sporting opportunities
are provided for all is also an advantage."
Anyone who is interested would only need to spare a few hours of
their time to attend several meetings throughout the year and
customer forums. These are unpaid positions but Trustees will be
reimbursed for travelling and any out-of-pocket expenses.
