Second Little Digmoor clean up
Grown-ups will be joining in the second big clean up in Little
Digmoor on Saturday 10th March to make the area nice and
tidy.
In the first blitz, pupils from Little Digmoor Primary School spent
the day on 2nd March sprucing up an area in the school, which was a
great success.
Now a second operation has been organised by the Police in
partnership with West Lancashire District Council, Fire and Rescue
Service and the community for the adults to get involved in a wider
clean up.
Letters have been sent out to local residents to encourage them to
join in Saturday's event. Once again the Council is providing
equipment and skips around the area on the day. Asda will be
providing refreshments for those who join in, which will be
available from Hope House.
Cllr Iain Ashcroft, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, said: "Last
week's event with the pupils from Little Digmoor went really well
and so to carry on this excellent work we thought it would be good
to have one for the grown-ups. By doing this we are engaging with
the community in a positive way to take pride in their area and to
improve their overall quality of life."
The Police will also be using the day as an opportunity to promote
Neighbourhood Watch.
Sergeant Dave Lea, Skelmersdale Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant,
said: "The clean-up is a great way to all work together to improve
the quality of life for residents in Little Digmoor. The policing
of this area is not just about the Dispersal Order, it is about
promoting a variety of initiatives that will complement each other
to build a more confident and secure community. I would also like
to encourage local residents to contact us to discuss developing
some Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the area to build on the work
that has already been done."
