Do you feel the Council should put more effort into consulting and
involving local people to find out their views and involve them in
making decisions?
If you feel that you have an opinion to give on how the Council
tries to consult and engage with local people, then visit Your Views.
The Council has launched a new draft Consultation and Community
Engagement Strategy to set out its approach for future years and it
is keen to gather local people's views.
Councillor Geoff Roberts, Leader of the Council, said: "We are
committed to consulting and engaging with local people and key
partners in the district and so we have drawn up a new draft
strategy for future years to ensure we consult and involve all
sections of our community."
"We have a strong track record in this area of work and over recent
years we have increased the effort and resources committed to
consultation and community engagement. Now we are keen to gather
people's views on how we can make further improvements in this very
important area of work."
You can read the draft strategy or download a copy from the
Your Views section,
and you can complete an online survey form to say what you think
about it. Copies of the strategy are also being circulated to local
organisations and businesses involved in the West Lancashire Local
Strategic Partnership, and people and partners are asked to give
their views by Monday 21 May 2007. The Council will review all the
comments received as it finalises the Strategy.
