Kite and Outdoor Sports Festival 2007
It's
back! West Lancashire District Council's exciting Kite and Outdoors
Sports Festival is here again on 2 and 3 June, and is promising
more thrills and spills than ever before.
Be amazed as the sky comes alive with colourful kites of all
different shapes and sizes, as professionals such as the Northern
Kite Group display their kite flying skills alongside ambitious
amateurs hoping to pick up some fly tips.
Spectators can also watch some of the some more challenging kite
skills on display, such as 'Buggying', which involves sitting in a
buggy going down a hill while trying to fly a kite. Or 'Mountain
Boarding', which involves the challenge of trying to skateboard
while balancing a kite at the same time - these things have to be
seen to be believed!
Also on display will be a range of heart stopping extreme sports
from Team Extreme, who will once again be thrilling the crowds with
their daring BMX, inline skating and skateboarding displays.
Children over 12 years who have permission from their parents will
be able to learn from the experts and try their hand at a few of
the easier ramp skills.
Also returning, will be the popular teddy bear parachute drop for
the little ones, and for those who are a bit bigger there will also
be the opportunity to try the climbing wall, large inflatable or
enjoy a leisurely stroll around the many trade stalls.
Cllr Robert Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "Over the
last few years the Kite and Outdoor Sports Festival has attracted
thousands of visitors and this year promises to be no exception.
With all the usual favourites and lots more besides, it really is
an event not to be missed so put the dates in you diary today and
make sure you don't miss out."
The event is held at Beacon Country Park, operating between 11am
and 5pm on both days, and is free.
