On the ball with football coaching
Youngsters who want to keep their eye on the ball can sign up for
free football coaching lessons in Old Skelmersdale.
The special one-off week is being organised through the District
Council's Sports Development Team from 14th May to 18th May and is
funded through the Big Lottery Fund.
Boys and girls who are interested in the sport can go along daily
between 4pm and 6pm to the Greenhill Community Centre, off Beech
Close, Old Skelmersdale for the sessions.
Professionally qualified coaches will teach youngsters a variety of
football skills to allow them to develop and progress in this
activity.
The week will then culminate in a football tournament on Saturday
19th May, from 10am to 1pm, when the children will get the chance
to test their newfound skills on the pitch in friendly
competition.
Dave Tilleray, Executive Manager for Community Services, said:
"This is a great opportunity for young people who are interested in
football to really develop their skills in a fun, friendly
environment with the help of professional coaches. It may even
encourage talented youngsters to further their career in this
sport."
