Sign up to countryside text service this
summer!
For a quick way to find out what countryside events are going on
during the summer months, why not sign up to the District Council's
free text messaging service.
Since this popular new service was launched in December 2006, lots
of countryside enthusiasts have requested to receive all the latest
news to their mobile phones so that they don't miss out on any
events.
All you need to do is visit our What's On section and fill in the Countryside
Event Text Service online form with your name and mobile number.
You'll get a confirmation text so you know you've signed up and you
can unsubscribe at any time. We'll then text you a few days in
advance when there's a countryside event on.
By knowing when they are happening, you will be able to put dates
in your diary for popular events such as the Kite and Outdoor
Sports Festival in June, the Green Fayre in July and lots of walks,
craft days and the Junior Rangers' club for the youngsters.
Councillor Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "During
the summer months it's nice to enjoy the outdoors but sometimes we
can forget what is happening on our own doorstep, which is why this
is a great, hassle-free way to find out about countryside events.
One simple message to your mobile phone a few days beforehand is an
innovative way to ensure you never miss a West Lancs countryside
event again!"
Councillor Adrian Owens, Portfolio Holder for IT, added: "You won't
be charged for anything, it's totally free to sign up and it
doesn't cost you anything to receive the texts either. If you
decide you don't want to receive any more messages, just fill in
the Countryside Event Text Service online form and check the
'unsubscribe' box."
