Objects of desire - a treasure trove at the
Gallery
An outstanding exhibition of jewellery, glassware, lighting,
metalwork and ceramics are to be unveiled at Chapel Gallery this
festive season.
The Objects of Desire exhibition was so popular last year that a
new exhibition has been created, to showcase the work of eighteen
professional makers from throughout the UK.
From 24th November to 12th January 2008, the exhibition gives
visitors the opportunity to enjoy the craft artworks of well-known
makers and exciting new talents on display, while providing a
wonderful opportunity to purchase original Christmas gifts.
The Chapel Gallery shop is also bursting with a fabulous array of
contemporary craft items, including a wide range of unique
jewellery. There is also a broad selection of Gisela Graham
designer Christmas decorations, visit early however, as items sell
quickly.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "We're
delighted to welcome to West Lancashire some of the most
significant contemporary craft artists working today, including
established designers and craftmakers who have worked on
high-profile commissions for galleries, public spaces and exclusive
interior designers. Their accomplished creations are shown
alongside the innovations of emerging talents in the field, recent
graduates with fresh ideas and energy in abundance, making for an
exciting exhibition."
Visitors will be mesmerised by the fusion of contemporary design
and craft items by artists Linda Baker, Penelope Batley, Stephanie
Bowen, Kate Byrne, Paul Cotterill, Sarah Driffill, Beverley Gee,
Rebecca Gouldson, Loretta Harmer, Samantha Maund, Sara McCade,
Cathy Miles, Catrin Mostyn-Jones, Hannah Nunn, Vicky Olsen, Salina
Somalya, Jo Vincent and Wendy Yung.
