Take the stress out of Christmas shopping with the
kids
Christmas shopping can be even more stressful with children in tow
so to stop you wilting in the bustle of it all, why not drop them
off at your local pool!
Throughout the festive season, West Lancashire Community Leisure
Trust has come up with a stroke of genius to help out harassed
parents.
Every weekend they are letting mums and dads bring their youngsters
to either Park Pool in Ormskirk or Nye Bevan Pool in Skelmersdale
for some swimming fun time while they head off to the stores to
pick up gifts in peace.
The sessions, aimed at 8 year olds upwards, are from 10am to 2pm,
where members of the team will entertain children with lots of
water-based activities while adults shop.
Bill Lloyd, Chairman of the Leisure Trust, said: "With the festive
season upon us it can be a nightmare to look for presents and
surprises when you have the children with you so we've decided to
make this task one less headache by organising drop-off pool
sessions for the youngsters. Not only is it great for the parents
but the children will love it too."
This initiative runs every weekend and then will operate daily from
the most hectic period between the 17th and 22nd December. It's
£1.55 per session and children can stay for as long or as little as
they like until they are picked up.
The Trust has also announced its Christmas opening hours with all
five leisure centres - Nye Bevan Pool, Park Pool, Skelmersdale
Sports Centre, Banks Leisure Centre and Burscough Fitness and
Racquets Leisure Centre - all closing on Sunday 23rd December and
re-opening to the public on 27th December. They will also close
again on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and will re-open again
on the 2nd January 2008.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "Once again
the Trust has put its customers first by organising this excellent
Christmas shopping initiative and also by tailoring its opening
hours to suit the needs of users who want to use the facilities
during the holidays. So those who want to exercise off all the
Christmas pudding before the New Year still have a chance to
exercise."
