'Yes' vote to West End play area
Residents
have voted in favour of refurbishing a play area in Ormskirk.
West Lancashire District Council recently held a consultation
exercise to find out the views of the community about relocating
and refurbishing the park on West End following requests from
locals and Ward Councillors.
Out of the residents who responded a majority voted in favour of
the project.
The next stage is for the District Council to invite a selection of
play manufacturers to submit designs for the facility.
A public viewing will then be held at a local venue, where local
residents and children will have an opportunity to view and vote
for the design they like most.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: The current
facility has been in place for many years, an excellent opportunity
has arisen to develop an exciting new facility which will be of
benefit to the local community as it is one of our top priorities
to provide quality leisure facilities."
Re-location nearer to the school and footpath will make it easier
to access in a central location - making it a safer place to
play.
