Art attack time for Halloween
Ghosts, ghouls, witches and brooms will be the theme for some fun
Halloween art workshops in Skelmersdale.
West Lancashire District Council's Arts Development Team have
organised some spooky art sessions for youngsters to get involved
in.
Two professional artists - Sarah Jane Richards, Printmaker and
Angela Thompson, Illustrator - will be facilitating the events and
will be showing youngsters how to create their own ideas to scare
the adults with!
The first class is on Wednesday 24th October at Tanhouse Community
Centre, Ennerdale, from 10am to 12pm then 1pm to 3pm.
Angela will be working with 4 to 7 year olds to show them how to
make their own special box to keep secrets and unusual spooky
treasures in. These children must be accompanied by an adult.
Meanwhile, Sarah will work with young people aged 8 to 13 years old
to produce a piece of artwork to scare the pants off their parents
using collage and printing techniques
The second event will be held on Friday 26th October at Digmoor
Community Centre, Birleywood, where the two artists will once again
facilitate the same workshops at the same times.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "With
Halloween lurking just around the corner, what better way to spend
the half term holidays than making lots of spooky, scary themed
artwork. It's a great opportunity to get into the spirit of things
and learn lots of new creative skills in a fun environment."
To take part in one of these sessions, contact Chapel Gallery on
01695 571328. Places are limited so book early to avoid any
disappointment. Parents must fill in a consent form before the
session. Cost of these sessions is £1. The same sessions will be
running in the morning and afternoon.
Please wear sensible clothes that you won't mind getting messy or
bring along a big shirt that you can use to cover your
clothes.
