Creature comforts
Kids will be giving the
local wildlife a helping hand this autumn by joining in the 'animal
abodes' Junior Rangers' event on Saturday 6 October.
Learning about small wild animals, youngsters will have a whole
host of fun building nest boxes for all kinds of creatures - from
creepy crawly shelters to homey hideouts for hedgehogs and field
mice.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "These days
most people keep their gardens so tidy that animals find it
difficult to find shelter. So as we move into the colder months
it's great to offer the local wildlife a helping hand. Not only is
this event lots of fun, it's also a great opportunity for children
to learn more about all sorts of weird and wonderful
creatures."
This event will take place from 2pm to 4pm at Beacon Country Park,
Up Holland, and is free.
The Junior Rangers' Club is for children up to the aged of 13. All
are welcome but children under 8 must be accompanied by an
adult.
The Club is run by the Council's Countryside Rangers and the group
meets at Beacon Country Park in Up Holland in the afternoon of the
first Saturday of every month.
Parents who would like more information about the Junior Rangers
Club can call the Countryside Rangers on 01695 622794 or email
