Develop your own monster ideas for this year's national Big
Draw
'Monster Mayhem' is the theme for the biggest
drawing event of the year at Ormskirk's Chapel Gallery.
West Lancashire District Council's Arts Development Team is
encouraging creative artists of every age to join in this year's
national event, 'The Big Draw' on Saturday 13th October, which aims
to promote the traditional skills of drawing.
This year's topic is all about creating your own monster ideas,
which can be completely unique or based on your favourite real life
animals.
Participants can book a place on a workshop facilitated by popular
Up Holland artist, Matthew Roby, on the day. He will be on hand to
give advice and provide inspiration to participants!
This family friendly event is free and encourages children and
adults to get creative and see the different ways in which they can
express themselves and create their own imaginative
characters.
Participants can sketch, draw or paint their inventive artworks in
a fun, informal environment using various drawing techniques.
Surrounded by the work of professional artists in 'The Importance
of Narrative' exhibition and the imaginative creations of young
artists from the region in 'Telling Tales,' the Youth Open 2007,
it's a great place to feel inspired!
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "Every year we
look forward to this national event because we get to see a range
of innovative creations that really stretch the imagination and are
fun to watch develop. Drawing is a great way to really express
yourself and is a challenge too, so I'm sure we'll have lots of
people come along to the workshops once again. So what are you
waiting for - put your name down to get drawing!"
Places are free, but for more information about the workshops and
times on the day and to book a place, please contact Chapel Gallery
