Paint a picture for half term break
Sketch or paint to your heart's content during the October half
term holidays by booking a place on one of Ormskirk Chapel
Gallery's fun workshops.
Children aged between 8 and 13 years of age can learn brand new
skills by signing up for one of the creative classes during the
school break.
The first workshop is on Wednesday 24th October with artist Sharon
Kelly. She will be showing youngsters how to discover the power,
meaning and use of colour in everyday life. With this new
knowledge, children will be able to create a colour sketchbook of
ideas and make a large abstract doodle design.
Then on Friday 26th October the theme for the session is 'Landscape
Painting'. During the class children will look at how the great
masters paint pictures of landscapes. Led again by Sharon Kelly,
young people will have a go at using acrylic paint and collage to
create their favourite or imagined landscape.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "I'd urge
children to get creative and have some fun during the school
holidays by signing up for these exciting workshops. The sessions
hosted by the Gallery are always extremely popular because they are
a great way for youngsters to learn new skills in a friendly,
educational environment. But be quick to book as spaces are snapped
up quickly."
Both workshops run from 10am to 3.30pm with an hour for lunch
between 12.30pm to 1.30pm. Young people can either bring a packed
lunch or go home for dinner. The cost is £10.00 for the workshops.
Participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing in case there
are any spills.
There's only limited places so book early to avoid disappointment
on 01695 571328. For information about other events for the half
term see the Events
