Plea to support 2007's Poppy Appeal
"Support this year's appeal and wear your poppy with pride" is the
message from the Chairman of West Lancashire District
Council.
This important annual appeal helps to raise much-needed funds to
aid ex-service men and women.
Last year's appeal raised a record breaking £26 million nationally
and, with the generosity of the general public, the Chairman of the
District Council is hoping that the people of West Lancashire will
do their bit to make sure that even more money is raised during
this year's appeal.
Cllr William Cropper, Chairman of the Council, said: "The people of
West Lancashire are always very supportive of this appeal and I
really hope that this year will be no exception. Every penny that
is kindly donated goes to support the work of the Royal British
Legion in helping our war heroes - both past and present. I would
urge people to give as much as they can to ensure that the Legion
can continue its excellent work."
Poppies and donation boxes are available at the Council Offices, 52
Derby Street, Ormskirk, for anyone who wants to support the
appeal.
Poppy People - volunteers are always desperately
needed to carry on the good work of the Legion. So if you are over
16 and would like to help out in any way, please contact 0800 085
5924.
