Recycling revolution hits the road
The recycling efforts of people in West Lancashire have 'bin'
brilliant. Figures are soaring and the Council is committed to
making sure this success continues.
To do this, recycling roadshows are being held across the district
aiming to help people to recycle more, to answer any recycling
questions and to encourage people to branch out even further with
their recycling efforts.
There will be information on 'the real nappy campaign' and how to
get your very own compost bin - for free! Along with a host of
ideas and top tips on how to live a greener life.
Come along and see for yourself, the events will be held from 10am
- 2pm on the following days:
Tuesday 25 September - St Marks Square car park, Tarleton
Wednesday 26 September - Tesco carpark, Burscough
Thursday 27 September - Ormskirk market stall, Moor Street,
Ormskirk
Friday 28 September - Asda carpark, Skelmersdale
Cllr David Westley, Portfolio Holder for Refuse and Recycling,
said: "It's almost two years on since the start of the new refuse
and recycling system and the vast majority of residents are doing a
fantastic job of recycling their waste.
"We now want to help residents to build on this success by taking
recycling to the next level. We want to increase awareness about
what can and can't be put out for recycling, and provide access to
information and advice on extra steps that can be taken to ensure
that we continue to move forward and do the very best we can to
protect our precious environment for future generations.
"I would encourage everyone to try and visit one of the roadshows
to pick up some new ideas and help us keep this recycling
revolution on the move."
Information is also available by visiting the Recycling section.
