September activities with the Rangers
As
summer draws to a close, keep active with the District Council's
Countryside Rangers.
On Sunday 9 September you can join the Rangers at 10.30am and get
creative as part of their Countryside Crafts Day. Here you will
have the opportunity to learn a variety of ancient countryside
crafts, trying your hand at making anything from rush lights to
pendants.
Rangers will also be leading a special Equinox Walk on Friday 21
September, marking one of only two points in the calendar where
night and day are exactly the same length. The autumnal equinox
signifies the end of the summer months and from 2pm Rangers will be
leading an informative stroll around the grounds of Beacon Country
Park and Ashurst Beacon, taking in spectacular views of the
Lancashire Plains and Winter Hill.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure Services, said: "As
summer draws to a close, joining in the Rangers' events is a great
way to keep spirits up and continue to make the most of the great
outdoors. The Countryside Crafts Day is a fantastic chance to try
your hand at ancient arts and equally the equinox walk will get
people out enjoying the countryside and fresh air."
These events are free and are suitable for all age groups but
children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
To take part please meet at the Rangers Station, Beacon Country
Park, at the designated time. Don't forget to wear suitable
clothing.
