Working to get lone parents back in
employment
West Lancashire District Council is supporting Jobcentre Plus in
its new campaign to help lone parents find employment.
Throughout September a number of key marketing initiatives will be
used to encourage mums or dads in these circumstances to get in
touch for advice and support about getting work.
They will help people find a job that fits around their family
commitments, will advise on appropriate childcare, will give
information on training opportunities and will look at financial
support available such as tax credits.
Cllr Ian Grant, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration,
said: "We are working hard to create good quality jobs for local
people and we applaud any initiative that will help get people back
into work. For lone parents many would love to be in employment but
face issues such as who would look after the children, or whether
they would actually be better off financially. But all these
questions can be answered by visiting any Jobcentre Plus. I would
encourage anyone in this predicament to get in touch if they would
like to go back to work but don't know where to start."
Jobcentre Plus offices in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale are taking part
in the initiative and will also be holding informal coffee mornings
and other events during September to promote the help they can
give.
