Duo crowned Honorary
Aldermen
Two former West Lancashire
Councillors have been rewarded for their long service.
Alan Bullen and Ken Vincent were
each given the title of Honorary Alderman of the District of West
Lancashire at a specially convened meeting of the Council on 15
October. Then, at a ceremony held on 17 December, they were
presented with a scroll, a cut glass decanter and a heraldic shield
by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Cyril Ainscough.
Both past members were given the
prestigious title in recognition of the eminent services they have
rendered during their time as elected representatives on the
Council. Alan Bullen served on the Council for a total of 31 years
and Ken Vincent for 30 continuous years.
Chairman of the Council, Cllr Cyril
Ainscough, said: "It is really pleasing that the Council has made
two of its past members Honorary Aldermen for their dedication and
service to the community over the years. I would like to commend
them for their excellent work on the Council. They both thoroughly
deserve this honour."
They follow in the footsteps of
three past members who have previously been made Honorary Aldermen.
They were Michael Cox in May 1995, Geoff Ellman in May 1997 and Don
Burns in June 2002.
