Give your views on Ashfield Terrace Conservation Area
Appraisal 2008
Residents are being asked for their views about a historically
important area of the district.
Ashfield Terrace is a Conservation
Area and was designated by West Lancashire District Council in 1975
because it represents two key periods of the historic development
of Appley Bridge, Wrightington.
Now the Council wants to know what people think of this historic
area, how it has changed since the last appraisal in 1998 and how
the Council can best preserve and enhance the site.
A public exhibition will take place
between 5pm and 7pm on Monday 14 July at Appley Bridge Village Hall
(opposite the Conservation Area on Appley Lane North). The day will
help residents and other interested parties to become involved in
the process and make comments regarding the draft appraisal.
Council officers will also be on hand to answer any questions.
Cllr Martin Forshaw, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: "It is
important that appraisals of our Conservation Areas are carried out
to ensure that these historic landmarks still warrant this
important status. It’s also an excellent opportunity to look
positively at how to manage changes which may erode their special
character if left uncontrolled, and to produce proposals to enhance
these areas."
Any comments or representations
regarding the appraisal should be made in writing to Cy Griffiths
or Ian Bond at the Council offices or by e-mail to cyllene.griffiths@westlancsdc.gov.uk
or ian.bond@westlancsdc.gov.uk.
Comments must be received by Friday 15 August 2008.
