Spatial Forums for
West Lancashire– Have your
say.
West Lancashire residents, land owners,
organisations and businesses are
invited to attend one of three ‘Spatial Forums’ to have their say
in the future of their local area.
The ‘Spatial Forums’, which are being held in
Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Tarleton, will give people the chance to learn
about the Council’s emerging Local Development Framework and to
give their views.
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the
new local plan and will guide future development in the District
for the next fifteen years. The purpose of these events is to
involve people in the planning process at the earliest opportunity.
At the forums, workshops have been organised to help identify the key issues facing
local areas and to identify where future development should be
located.
Three ‘Spatial Forums’ are being held at the
following locations:
> Tuesday 22 July – Tarleton High
School, Tarleton – 7pm to 9pm
> Wednesday 23 July – Skelmersdale Ecumenical Centre – 7pm to 9pm
> Thursday 31 July – Ormskirk Civic Hall – 7pm to 9pm
Interested people are advised to attend the
forum discussing issues related to their settlement. The
Tarleton Forum will discuss issues
relating to Tarleton, Hesketh Bank, Banks and Rufford; the Skelmersdale Forum will discuss Skelmersdale, Up Holland, Parbold and the Eastern Parishes; and the
Ormskirk Forum will discuss
Ormskirk, Aughton, Burscough and the Western Parishes.
Cllr Martin Forshaw, portfolio holder for
Planning and Transportation, said: “The LDF is so important as it
gives the community a say in the future of their local area. I strongly recommend that you attend one of
the three Spatial Forum events that have been organised in order to have your say. This is the
first step in a long process to ensure that local communities are
developed sustainably.”
If you wish to attend any of the above forums,
then please register your place by contacting the our LDF
Section on 01695 585239 or email us at ldf@westlancsdc.gov.uk with
your preferred forum, contact details, and how many places you
require. Places for the ‘Spatial Forums’ will be limited therefore
early booking for the event will be essential.
These events are part of an ongoing informal
consultation period for the Local Development
Framework. We have distributed a special LDF
newsletter to people on the planning consultation database and it
is viewable at the our contact centres in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale and also at libraries across the
District.
