National Poop Scoop Week!
West Lancashire District Council and the Dogs Trust have teamed
up to urge dog owners to pick up the poop for a cleaner summer
outdoors.
"Grab it, Bag it, Bin it!" is the motto of this year’s National
Poop Scoop Week which runs from 23 to 29 June 2008 and to get free
poop scoop bags, all you have to do is fill in the form on our
website - www.westlancsdc.gov.uk/dogs
- and we will post them out to you.
Digmoor Community Centre in Skelmersdale will be hosting a
Responsible Dog Ownership Day on Saturday 28 June from 10am to 5pm.
There will be free doggy health checks from the P.D.S.A. and our
Dog Control Officers will be on hand to provide information and
advice about an array of dog-related matters. A free Micro Chipping
service will also be available for a limited period during the day
for those dog owners in receipt of benefits.
In the run up to Responsible Dog Ownership Day, our Dog Control
Officers and the Countryside Rangers will be providing dog owners
with help and advice on doggy issues and controlling fouling. They
will be in Coronation Park, Ormskirk on Thursday 26h and in Beacon
Country Park, Up Holland on Friday 27 June between 3pm and 5pm.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "We provide facilities to make it as easy as possible for dog
owners to clean up after their pets, including dog waste bins and
free ‘poop scoop’ bags. I hope this week encourages all dog owners
to clean up after their pets so we can all enjoy summer in our
parks and public spaces free of nuisance dog poop."
