Educational workshops for schools
Pupils have a great opportunity to
see professional artists’ work and then have a go at some hands-on
practical tasks at Chapel Gallery.
The Arts Development Team has put
together an inspiring educational workshop programme for schools,
which complements the exhibition programme. This includes
educational tours, discussions and creative practical workshops all
planned to follow national curriculum guidelines.
The next phase of workshops focuses on
‘Objects of Desire’, an exhibition which includes textiles,
ceramics, glasswork and jewellery. The workshops are facilitated by
professional artist and give young people the opportunity to
explore contemporary craft and design, providing an inspirational
experience for all who participate.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for young people from
various schools across the district to spend time studying the
Gallery’s exciting exhibitions and talk about the work on show,
sketch from first hand observation and then finish off the session
with an activity based on the artist’s work. It’s a really good
initiative and the programme is always popular with schools. We
always get lots of positive feedback from the teachers and pupils
for the sessions being educational, creative and fun at the same
time. I would encourage schools to book their sessions now to avoid
disappointment."
Professional artists facilitate the workshops and schools in
West Lancashire are regularly sent out details of the educational
workshops so they can sign up for them.
