Get creative
this Christmas and visit the Gallery’s craft event!
Dazzle people with your creative talents this Christmas by
picking up tips at the Chapel Gallery’s Fine Art and Contemporary
Craft Event.
If you’re looking for a unique surprise for a loved one and want
some fun thrown into the bargain, make sure you pop along to the
Chapel Gallery for this popular festive occasion on Friday 28
November.
Now in its eighth year, the event is a great way to shop for
gifts, learn how to make your own yuletide wonders and also enjoy
the Christmas entertainment.
Artists and makers from throughout the UK will present
breathtaking collections of jewellery, ceramics, textiles, prints,
paintings, hand-crafted Christmas cards and lots more for people to
purchase.
Stalls open from 12noon to 8pm and there will be jewellery
making and table decoration demonstrations, facilitated by
professional craftmakers to show visitors the work that goes into
creating such unusual pieces.
Demonstration times are 30 minutes long and are as follows:
-
12.45pm: Jeweller Samantha Taylor turns wire
and beads into a pendant necklace. An ideal Christmas gift
-
1.45pm: Helen Hindle will demonstrate how to
make your own contemporary Christmas wreath for your Christmas
table.
-
2.45pm: Watch how to make a beaded wire
bracelet with Samantha Taylor.
-
3.45pm: Learn how to make a seasonal
centrepiece table decoration that is sure to delight guests, with
Helen Hindle.
Families can make a real event of it as it also coincides with
the Ormskirk Christmas lights switch-on in the town centre.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "It’s great to put your own personal touch on Christmas and
this popular event is fantastic because not only can you find
unique gifts for loved ones, you can even learn to make your own
Christmas surprises. There’s plenty to do for youngsters and adults
so make sure you get yourself down to Chapel Gallery for a creative
Christmas experience."
For those who can’t make it, the Gallery’s contemporary craft
shop boasts a wide range of Christmas decorations and beautiful
gifts at reasonable prices.
The public can visit the Gallery, off St Helens Road, anytime
from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The café is open from
10am to 4pm. Entrance is free.
