Have your say about Ormskirk town centre
Residents are being asked to give their views about Ormskirk
town centre’s conservation area, which helps to protect the town’s
historic character.
West Lancashire District Council is inviting residents and
people who use the town centre to give feedback about the
conservation area, as part of an ongoing review.
Ormskirk was designated as a historic market town in 1975 and
the conservation area works to protect, promote and preserve the
town centre’s special qualities.
A public exhibition will be held at Chapel Gallery, St Helens
Road, Ormskirk from 25 November to 12 December 2008. The gallery is
open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00am-4.30pm. At this free exhibition
you can complete feedback forms and discover the issues that may
affect the conservation area.
Council officers from the Heritage and Environment Section will
be available to answer questions at a further exhibition on 4
December between 1.30pm-6.30pm in the Arts & Community Centre
(next to the gallery).
Commenting on the upcoming exhibition, Cllr Martin Forshaw,
Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transportation, said: "West
Lancashire District Council is keen to hear local opinion about how
the conservation area can be best preserved. It is important
residents take the opportunity to shape the future management and
conservation of Ormskirk town centre. Feedback will be used to
identify the buildings, places and features that give Ormskirk its
special appeal."
Comments should be sent to West Lancashire District Council
before 9 January 2009. For more information contact Cy Griffiths,
Conservation Officer, on 01695 585102.
